Phillip H. Foss
Phillip H. Foss, C Co. 505th Reg. 82nd Airborne Div. was an American who went to the draft boards to do his part in World War II.
Originally in the 174th Field Artillery he put in a transfer for the 82nd Airborne just prior to the Normandy Invasion. D-Day At 19 years old he jumped into France marking his first of 5 major campaigns. He later went on to fight throughout France, Central Europe, the Rhine, and Ardennes. (Battle of the Bulge) He was also one of the first to liberate the Dachau concentration camp. By the time he had returned to his home in Michigan he had shot down 5 enemy ME 109 aircraft.
