Philanthro Productions
Philanthro Productions is a non-profit event production company that organizes benefits for partner charities.
Philanthro was founded in February, 2007, by two management consultants. While the organization is headquartered in Los Angeles, it also opened a San Diego chapter in June, 2007, and has plans to expand to other major cities nationwide.
Philanthro held its first event at Spider Club in Hollywood on June 9, 2007, to benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF). Attendance exceeded 350 and Philanthro generated over $4,000 for EGPAF.
Philanthro's second event -- the debut of the San Diego chapter -- took place on July 19, 2007, in the Gaslamp District of San Diego. Partner charity Invisible Children received a contribution of nearly $6,000 after the event at Belo nightclub drew more than 600 people.
On August 30, 2007, Philanthro Los Angeles hosted StRUT, a fashion show and nightclub event to benefit Camp Heartland at Cabana Club in Hollywood. A pre-event community leadership mixer (co-hosted by Hopscotch Network1 and Project by Project2) drew more than 30 representatives from approximately 15 non-profit organizations. More than 600 young people showed up to see a runway show for Ray Ray Clothing, DJ Tony Collage and Yesi Ortiz from Power 106 FM, Jonathan Bennett (Mean Girls, 2000), and much more. Camp Heartland received approximately $7,000 in donations generated from the event.
Philanthro's next event will be on February 8, 2008 at Level 3 in Hollywood3. Proceeds will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
