Peter Nevland
Peter Nevland, is a writer, poet, performer, and musician from Austin, Texas.
Biography and Performance Career
Peter Nevland came to the University of Texas in 1993 to study Mechanical Engineering. Despite beginning a promising career at Motorola, he turned his attention to writing and performing poetry. He has been a regular performer at the Austin Poetry Slam since 2000.
Peter met guitarist Paul Finley in 2000 at Austin's Hope Arts Festival. The pair grew to be friends and began performing together. The combination of Paul's acoustic guitar playing and Peter's spoken word poetry soon became known as 'spoken groove'. Paul Finley has been highly praised for his guitar talent and Peter is known primarily for his inspirational, frequently spiritual lyrics, high energy stage show, and groove oriented antics.
Together, they earned media praise such as, "These two performers, they're more than poets, have taken spoken word and the art of poetry slam to new heights." - The Santa Fe Reporter. "An explosion of words." - The Dallas Morning News.
To date, Peter has Nevland has released 7 Compact Discs and 1 DVD featuring his music and poetry. He has performed at thousands of venues on 4 continents. Most recently, Peter has turned his attention toward helping businesses with graphic design, public speaking, and other marketing skills through his business venture, The Land of Nev.
