Peter Griffith (October 23, 1933 – May 14, 2001) was an American film actor, also the father of famous celebrity Melanie Griffith.

Biography

Peter Griffith was born in Baltimore, Maryland; the son of James and Elizabeth Griffith. He had 2 sisters, Jennifer and Jessica Griffith. Griffith is known for appearing in the horror film Halloween in 1978, taking the role as 'Morgan Strode' in the film, you won't see him in all of the movie, you will see him in the beginning of the film, as 'Laurie Strode's foster father, getting in to his car and telling Laurie he left the Myer's house key under the map. Griffith has English and Dutch ancestry, also his 1st wife Tippi Hedren is half Swedish, quarter German, and quarter Norwegian.

Griffith's origins are in England because of one of his English ancestors, and the other in the Netherlands because of his father being an Dutch-American.

Griffith was married 3 times, and had 3 children altogether, first he married Golden Globe-award winning actress Tippi Hedren, together they had 1 child named Melanie Griffith, they married in 1952 and divorced in 1961 after 9 years of marriage; second he married actress Nanita Greene, together they had 2 children, Tracy Griffith (a actress) and Clay Griffith (a production designer); third he married Debra, together they had no children, they were married until Peter's death in 2001.

Peter Griffith died on May 14, 2001, in Santa Fe, New Mexico in U.S.A.. According to the Internet Movie Database, Griffith had died of 'complications from emphysema'. He was interred at Rosario Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was 67 years old at the time of his death.
