Perpetual art machine

[PAM] the Perpetual Art Machine was founded in New York in January 2006 by the artists Chris Borkowski, Aaron M. Miller, Raphaele Shirley and Lee Wells in collaboration with Alexis Hubshman, president of the Scope Art Fair. Through the use of robust open source CMS & DAM software such as (Joomla & Gallery2) , streaming video technologies and custom software developed in Max (software)MSP and Jitter as well as MySQL[PAM] has rapidly become a growing video art portal on the internet. Since its first installation in at the Scope New York art fair in March 2006 the[PAM] has grown via its web site into a free community of more than 900 artists from over 50 countries and consists of over 1000 video art works on-line and in its interactive video installation. [PAM] is a fusion of interactive art, video art, and sound art.

Overview

Perpetual Art Machine is a community for video artists, curators, writers, theorists, educators, collectors, and enthusiasts. Perpetual Art Machine is free (no cost) to the public and its participants.

Perpetual Art Machine is an on line gallery and database of video art.

Perpetual Art Machine is an interactive video installation.

The website feeds the interactive installation. Both the database and video content work together at exhibitions displaying video pieces simultaneously in a semi-random gird and individually. The videos play off each other by informing each other of associations and/or differentiations. Visitors then have the option of watching each individual video to allow an investigation of their individual qualities.

Perpetual Art Machine intents to further the awareness and understanding of video art and therefore encourages
it's artist and curator members to curate freely from the website video gallery and welcomes the
opportunity to help organize exhibitions and screenings that promote the artists involved in the project.
To date the [PAM] co-founders, Artist-At-Large, & members have organized numerous exhibitions of video art
that have taken place around the world
