Perfusion Standards of Reporting Trials
The Perfusion Standards of Reporting Trials (or PERFSORT) is a planned list of standards to standardise the conduct and reporting of studies in the scientific literature that utilise cardiopulmonary bypass.
Overview
The main product of PERFSORT is the production of an Access database that is freely downloadable. Authors submitting articles to journals for publication submit their perfusion data via this access database. They will be supplied with a percentage PERFSORT compliance statement. The original data will then be incorporated onto a website for downloading as an electronic accompaniment to the publication. In addition the database will be imported into a single world wide perfusion database.
PERFSORT offers a standard way for authors to prepare reports of details of cardiopulmonary bypass, ensuring uniformity in publications, and helping META analysis of perfusion cardiopulmonary bypass related issues.
PERFSORT will eventually be available in a number of different languages.
Considered an evolving process, PERFSORT will be subject to periodic changes as new evidence emerges.
PERFSORT is relevant to single patient case reports, series small or large, and multi center studies.
