Pennoyer Park

Pennoyer Park is a small lakeside park located in the city of Kenosha, Wisconsin just off of Lake Michigan.

Location

In the northeastern section of Kenosha lies Pennoyer Park. It is across the street from southern Lake Michigan. It possible to get there by vehicle on the 7th avenue above the park or by bike on the bike route that runs directly through Pennoyer and along the lakefront.

The Beech

Directly east of the park is the Kenosha beech strip. The shore consists of several different bike trails, beech houses, dunes, playgrounds, docks, ports, restaurants, and fishing spots. Its perfect for swimming especially on the many sandbars in the water. Also taking the dog to the lakefront for exercise is perfect. The only downside to the beech is that it is home to the life-taking Pike Creek with its swift undertow that pulls swimmers out for miles.

The Park

The park contains a fenced in three-section tennis court. Each section holds one full-sized court for play. On the northern end of the park is a small playground. The area has a slide, two swings, and manual merry-go-round. The park contains a large white bandshell on the north end. It hosts bands, singers, church ceremonies, and small fairs and conventions. It is a non-profit arena. To the west of Pennoyer is a strip of hilly land. After a large snowfall the hills are used for sledding.
