Paul Renna (born March 7, 1973) is an Austin, Texas-based musician and artist.

Early career

Paul Renna is an American singer/songwriter born in [[Dallas, Texas]2]. The eldest of three children, Paul was born on Ash Wednesday, on March 7, 1973. Paul is the son of an International banker and homemaker/interior designer who spent his early years traveling throughout Asia, living in Tokyo, Japan and Singapore. His love of music was as natural as his first step. At the age of 3 when asked what he wanted for his birthday he announced, a guitar. Paul learned to play guitar from a variety of guitar rockers. His first performances were as a guitarist but after a member of his high school band had to quit to study, Paul became the lead singer for the band. A few lessons from a New York opera singer, he was well on his way developing his own vocal style. He dabbles on the drums and piano but his greatest love is as a singer/songwriter and performing in front of a live audience.

A gifted songwriter, Paul began his song writing at a very early age. At 17, Paul worked the Deep Ellum scene playing the circuit for a year before moving to Austin where he fronted the band, Rhythm Child. As many successful bands go the path of disbanding, so was the case for Rhythm Child. After ten years in Austin, Paul moved back to Dallas where he fronted another successful band King Zero. King Zero earned great acclaim for powerful vocals and explosive energy. After 10 years Paul Renna and King Zero would part ways, playing their last show together at Trees in Dallas, Texas in 2009.

Singer/songwriter career

In 2009, Paul wasted no time to do what he always dreamt of doing musically, he became a singer/songwriting performer. Simple known as Paul Renna, his faithful fans now had the opportunity to enjoy Paul Renna on his own terms. After fronting bands for the past 20 years, Paul has found his place in the music industry. A performer whose influences began with the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Black Crowes, Lenny Kravitz, Ben Harper, and James Taylor, Paul has never been more creative and more ready to build on his career. To the delight of Paul Renna the vast amount of interest in his work continues to encourage this singer/songwriter to do what songwriters and singers do, create music and perform.

Paul’s great love of live music, performing for the people who helped make his creativity come to life is as important to Paul as the songwriting. In his words, it’s all for the love of live music. Whether he performed for one fan or hundreds, his philosophy is to give it his all.

With two albums under his belt and a third in the works, Paul will release a 5 song EP in the summer of 2010. Paul’s first album, “Portrait” and “Freedom” are only the beginning of a successful career to come for this young Texas artist.
