Paul Murad

Paul Murad is a small business owner in Southern Nevada, community activist, author, and Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Nevada. Paul is currently the President of METROPLEX GROUP, a company engaged in real estate brokerage, investments, and development. Murad, a registered member of the Democratic party, is also the founder of the Young Philanthropists Society through the United Way of Southern Nevada, and also serves on the steering committee for Global Green USA.

Murad was born in the former Soviet Union, and was raised in a one-bedroom apartment with his mother. His father passed away when Murad was five years old. While exceling in academics, Paul participated in a mandatory student program picking potatoes in government-owned fields. Despite being raised under an oppressive political regime, Murad managed to come to the United States with only a few hundred dollars to his name. He then worked his way through school, and obtained a degree in finance and international business from the University of Tulsa.

While working in business development for multinational corporations, Murad traveled the world, developing international business relationships and gaining first-hand knowledge of people and customs.

2010 Lt. Governor Race

Murad's campaign for Nevada's Lt. Governor began in September of 2009 by publicly announcing his candidacy at the numerous Democratic Clubs and Caucuses in Southern Nevada. Murad is one of three current Democratic candidates in the race for Lt. Governor, creating a primary election process in June of 2010.

On the Issues

Economic Development

Murad has presented Nevadans A Plan, his "50/50" plan, that entails that once in the office of Lt. Governor he would actively pursue the top 50 domestic corporations as well as the top 50 international corporations, in an effort to encourage them to do business in Nevada.

Strengthening Tourism

Paul will work directly with national and international airlines to establish new direct flights to both McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas and the Reno/Tahoe International Airport. He is also very interested in working to move the high speed train connection between Las Vegas and Los Angeles forward, which will bring visitors to Southern Nevada for both business and pleasure.

Green Sector

Murad is currently active on two major non-profit organizations that are in the Green Sector, Global Green USA and Environmental Media Agency, and plans on using his experience in these organizations to bring Green Sector jobs to Nevada.
