Pat Lobb Toyota

Pat Lobb Toyota is the first auto dealership to attempt and achieve the U.S. Green Buildings Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating. The facility was granted LEED status at an award ceremony during the 2007 National Automotive Dealers Association Convention in Las Vegas. The project seeks to promote environmental awareness and service as a model to the automotive industry that sustainable design is good for both the environment, the customers and employees and the business as a whole.

Design intent

The design intent for the project was:

  1. Taking the true cost of building operations and energy consumption in mind, design a facility that would perform at an efficiency such that any initial construction cost increases could be recovered over a reasonable amount of time of 3 to 5 years.
  2. Create a customer and employee environment that was environmentally responsible and that utilized products free from potentially harmful ingredients.
  3. Become a source of education for the community as to responsible design and stewardship of the environment.

USGBC LEED program

The LEED program has been developed by the USGBC to establish a standardized validation method for sustainable architecture. The USGBC is a non-profit organization.
