Company History

Parissa is a Privately Held Canadian Company, founded by Azar and Freidoon Moayeri on January 13, 1983; incorporated January 31, 1991. Azar Moayeri, a chemical engineer with an Iranian heritage, emigrated to Canada along with her husband, Freidoon and their 2 young children after the Iranian revolution and began creating Canada's first All Natural hair removal product. Her kids package the products while watching Scooby-Doo and later join Mom and Dad selling products to the local stores.

Over the last 25 years, Parissa has expanded internationally, yet still continues to manufacture, package and ship products from a production facility between the Coastline and Mountains of North Vancouver, British Columbia. Parissa remains a family owned and run company.

Ingredients are sourced from Europe and North America to ensure safe, high-quality and preference is given to local suppliers to support their community and minimize carbon footprint. All ingredients and components are purchased from companies that operate in a legislative framework that enforce strong environmental, labour and human rights regulations.

Only natural, food-grade ingredients are used in all product formulations. There are never GMO's, fragrances with phthalates, synthetic or chemical preservatives or parabens.

Parissa's plant produces NO bi-products or environmental waste, is powered by natural gas and hydro-electric power, the cleanest most sustainable forms of energy. The new manufacturing plant erected in 2011 was designed, targeting the highest global environmental standards for buildings.

In 2010, Parissa made a commitment to measure its total carbon emissions in the manufacture, marketing and distribution of products. They participated in a program designed to record total greenhouse gas inventory and make a commitment to reduce total greenhouse gas emissions. The expert 3rd party that reviews and audits the GHG inventory and reduction strategies is ClimateSmart Business.

Certifications & Awards

Leaping Bunny Program: A program that administers a cruelty-free standard for companies producing cosmetic, personal care and household products. It provides the best assurance that no animal testing is used in any phase of product development by the company, it's laboratories or suppliers. The Leaping Bunny program is the only internationally recognized program of its kind.
