Papa Agyemang
Papa Agyemang (born April 25, 1984 in Ghana) is a Ghanaian footballer who plays as an Offensive Midfielder /Forward
Early life
Papa relocated to the United Kingdom at a very young age together with his siblings to join their parents who had immigrated to London, United Kingdom. He had his primary and secondary education in the United Kingdom.
Career
Papa was first spotted playing for his local youth side Roundwood F.C. and signed for Brentford F.C upon leaving school. He went on to spend time at both Wealdstone and then English Premier League side Fulham Football Club before making the Switch to German outfit Rot-Weiss Oberhausen but this move didn’t work out as after 6 months he was back in the U.K failing to settle in the country. He subsequently went on to spend a couple seasons at Braintree Town where he signed in time to make the squad for the clubs first foray in the 1st round proper of the FA Cup against Shrewsbury Town.
He was then offered a trial at Turkcell Süper Lig highfliers Sivasspor. The transfer window prevented a deal from being struck.He spent some shorts stints at some lower league clubs before spending the 2007/08 season at Liberty Professionals in his native Ghana to revive his career. He left Ghana and arrived in Germany on 26.03.08 for a stint with FSV Mainz 05 but was prevented from playing competitive matches by the DFB as he had not met the deadline for Winter Transfers.
Papa took a break from the game in 2008/09 season to complete his Law degree.
International career
Papa first came to the attention of the Ghana Football Association while on a trial stint at premier league side Fulham Football Club and arrangements were then made for him to get drafted into the Ghana U-20 which consisted of yet to be stars such as Derek Boateng,Yussif Chibsah, Habib Mohammed and Abdul Razak Ibrahim in preparation for the African Youth Championship in Burkina Faso.
Personal
Papa could be argued to be amongst the most educated footballers around as he was awarded a First Class Law Degree with Honors from Middlesex University London. He is also a very talented drummer who was once in a school band.
