Pakistan Urdu School, Bahrain
Pakistan Urdu School is a private institution functioning in Isa Town, Bahrain. The school was founded in 1960?? by a panel of Bahraini and Pakistani trustees who agreed to establish it as an alternative English medium school for the Pakistani community in Bahrain. The school was seen as an alternative for the embassy-backed Pakistan School.
Affiliation
The school is affiliated to the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), Islamabad.
Standards
The school has classes up till the 12th standard. The Board Exams are held once a year under the supervision of the FBISE. The school management has emphasized that it provides an outlook into the Pakistani culture and traditions, but the feeling is not mutual with the Pakistani community in Bahrain. Although the school's popularity has been in a steady decline during the last few decades, it still attracts more students then the embassy school. The standard of education is English, but the normal medium of communication is Urdu. The school attracts students from other nationalities as well and gives them optional subjects to choose from.
Location
The school is situated behind the Bahrain Bayan School and in front of the Hope Institue for the Blind.
Extra Curricular Activities
The school's most popular and most practiced activity is debate competitions. They are mostly conducted at National Days or on Cultural Holidays. Occasional Naat recitals and poetry competitions are held. The school has a cricket team as it is the most popular sport, but the team rarely participates in any kind of inter-collegiate or even inter-house competitions. The management had taken few steps in the past for the promotion of extra curricular activities in the school but due to lack of resources and interest they have been failing ever since.
