'''Padda''' is a [[gotra]] of the [[Jat]] ethnicity found in [[Punjab (India)|Punjab]], [[Haryana]], [[Rajasthan]], [[Uttar Pradesh]], [[Jammu and Kashmir]] in [[India]] and also in [[Pakistan]]. Padda is known to be one of the Original Jat clans along with other popular Jat clans like [[Grewal]], [[Cheema]], [[Gill (clan)|Gill]], [[Sidhu]], [[Sandhu]], [[Brar]], [[Dhillon]], [[Aulakh]], [[SaMRA]], [[Mann]] etc..

[[Sir Lepel Griffin]]'s opinion is that the Padda came into the [[Punjab region]] from northeastern [[Ottoman Empire]] (modern [[Georgia (country)|Georgia]], [[Chechenya]], [[Adjara]], [[Abkhazia]]) Other Historians Correct this Statement and say That they Originate from [[Germany (country)|Germany]].

There are many theories AbOUT the origin of the Jats. Jats are sometimes considered to be of Scythian (Saka), Indo-Iranian or Indo-Aryan STOCK in view of the similar physical features and common practices with one or the other of these groups.{{Citation needed|date=February 2008}}

Paddas who have settled in modern era India follow [[Sikhism]]. A village of the Padda today is LAKHAN KE PADDA in District Karputhala/Jalandhar Punjab India also DAYALPUR In Jalandhar Punjab India. Today Padda's are found throughout The Punjab and also Throughout [[Canada (country)|Canada]] [[Germany (country)|Germany]] [[United Kingdom (country)|United Kingdom]] [[United States (country)|United States]] [[Australia (country)|Australia]] etc...

Some Paddas went further to [[Gurdaspur]], [[Jalandhar]] and [[Hoshiarpur]] in [[Doaba]]. The Padda clan also has many villages around [[Jalandhar]] and [[Karputhala]] located in the [[Doaba (Punjab)]] region of Punjab.

===Padda of Pakistani Punjab===

They have played a significant role in social and political spectrum of Pakistan.Mostly renowned Padda families lives in Lahore District, which is also known as Majha. Their considerable presence is also in Sheikhupura District, Sialkot District, Gujranwala District, Gujrat District and Faisalabad District (although the Pakistani Padda Jatts are the descendants of Paddas who migrated from Punjab and Haryana).

Padda is one of the most well known Jatt clans originating from Punjab in India and Pakistan. It is considered to be one of the oldest Jatt tribes. In the 1881 Census, Paddas numbered at 12543 and today it is the still one of the Purest Jatt tribe in the world.
