OISE; the Oxford Intensive School of English is a language school, established in 1973 in Oxford, England. The schools aim to allow students to learn English, French, German and Spanish in the countries where they are used. The founder Till Gins invents the concept of lesson formats, Tutorial, Quatorial and Octorial.

History

In June 1973, Till Gins organised a three week long language course at Sorbonne University in Paris using teaching methods inspired by Oxford University. This initial success led to the opening OISE's first school in 1975.

Lessons

OISE provides intensive language training courses. Each teaching day encompasses grammar, vocabulary and fluent language production in a natural environment.

Tutorial lessons: one-on-one lessons.

Quatorial lessons: up to 4 students.

Octorial lessons: up to 8 students.

Group Development

4 directions have been taken to develop:

1. The creation of schools for adults (professionals) and for higher education students.

2. The creation of a school and the renting of schools and colleges for younger students (primary and secondary school students)

3. The acquisition of competitors, all notorious players in the industry for their own educational approach (kept after the acquisition).

4. The promotion is handled by sales offices in Europe and worldwide sales agents.

Schools

The first school was set-up in 1975. OISE has 10 permanent schools for adults and higher education students. These are all located in university cities to maximize the recruitment of teachers. There is also a permanent school for younger students in Newbury, opened in 1994 .

Summer camps are held at colleges and schools rented during the school holidays. Some offer residential accommodation while others provide homestays, where students live with families in the local area.

The schools are structured around a Principal responsible for the school and administration, a Director of Studies responsible for the academic side of operations, an accommodation officer and teachers.
