Outsourceopoly
Outsourceoply is a board game that is a unique change from the opoly styled games. Players compete to purchase third world countries and put up plants and factories to produce dirt-cheap products. The name of the game comes from the trend of outsourcing or offshoring work that was traditionally done within the United States.
Board
The board consists of 40 spaces containing 28 countries, 3 opportunity spaces, 3 shipping container spaces, an import tax space, unemployment office, Free Third World Labor, and "Go to the unemployment office" space. There is a power plant space named the "Iranian Nuclear Power Company" and the water company is on a space named "Antarctica IceBerg Water Company". There are a couple developed countires on the board like the United Kingdom and the United States. Both play an important part in winning the game.
Unemployment Office
The Unemployment Office is a prison that many workers have been sent to when their jobs disappeared overseas. The typical unemployment office is set up never to allow a laid off worker to get their benefits. However, in this game a player receives an unemployment benefit during their stay in the office. A player that reaches the "unemployment office" space during normal dice rolls is said to be on "temporary layoff," and continues normal play on the next turn.
Ports
All shipping ports can be owned by one player who then controls the products that must be sent to other countries.
Unique Twists
There are several twists to Outsourceopoly that a traditional opoly game doesn’t have. First off, there are 4 shipping ports that can be bought. If a single player controls all 4 ports that player can levy import and port service fees on the revenue that each countries generates. Secondly, only one country needs to be owned to allow construction of plants and factories. Finally, there are brown and green areas on the playing board for each country. The brown areas represent land that has been clear-cut to allow for building. The green areas represent virgin rain forest that cannot be built on until the “opportunity” card is drawn that allows a player to bribe government officials to clear-cut the forest.
