Osim Singapore International Triathlon 2009

The Osim Singapore International Triathlon 2009 took place on 1 August 2009 and 2 August 2009, with a number of races including Sprint distance and Olympic distance. The main motivation and objective of the event is to increase the interest in living a healthy lifestyle among the participants.

Overview

OSIM International had partnered with Triathlon Association of Singapore in establishing this triathlon which has been an ongoing sport for the past 8 years. The event aims to promote healthy living as well as encourage people of all ages to exercise in order to stay fit and healthy. This year, it is exceptionally interesting as it is the first stage in the selection of young triathletes to represent Singapore at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010.

There is also a Kids Triathlon for those aged 14 and below, a slightly less taxing mini triathlon for those who would like to be involved but are not up to such a grueling workout, and the Corporate Triathlon for those who wish to participate with their colleagues.

Race Entry Pack

  • A Championchip together with strap.
  • A security wrist tag for each athlete.

  • A Bicycle Number Flag which must be properly secured on the seat post of your bicycle.

The Osim Singapore International Triathlon is a sports tourism event The Sports Tourism Event category refers to sports activities that attract a respectable number of visiting participants and or spectators. The visitor types differ from time to time, depending very much on the sport event. Sports tourists from regional countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Phillipines, India and China flocked to Singapore to take part in the Sports Tourism Event. The race also attracted particpants for countries like United Stated of America, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, where the partipants also managed a spot in the top 50 ranking of the different categories.

This event hopes to promote the idea of a healthy lifestyle both physically and socially. Physically by exercising to keep fit and socially by interacting with colleagues through the Corporate Triathlon.

By drawing such an international crowd and supporters, it boosted Singapore's visitor count and the local tourist reciepts.
