Orion (project)

The Orion Project is an amateur satellite project using the Orion Lifter.

Origins

Kenden created the Orion Project with the idea of the first truly amateur satellite (relying on purely on donations, grants, sponsorships).

Details

The lifter is modeled after the Ariane 5 ESA heavy lifter. It will be approx. 10m(~30ft) tall. There will be 3 stages (excluding the satellite motor and the boosters) powered by pressurized hydrogen and oxygen. The boosters will be powered by Ammonium Perchlorate.

Payload

The payload will contain modified wifi transceivers (same format, but will transmit at slightly lower frequencies), and some live experiments.
