Orchestra JB

Orchestra JB is the nom de plume of Jimmy Brown, who was a multi-instrumentalist and DJ who, after releasing a few underground dance hits for indie labels (Rumour Records), namely Free Spirit / On a Love Groove, which was a big hit in the clubs all over Europe. He then collaborated with another former Rock Musician Billy Brown (no relation) singer and songwriter, rhythm guitarist, harmonica player - of Friends of Gavin, (who toured with many bands as the opening act for REM, Boomtown Rats, Ian Dury, The Alarm amongst quite a few other well known bands and Artists), and he co wrote Come Alive, which got to number 15 in the UK Dance Charts and was a big hit on the European Club scene with its haunting harmonica.

He subsequently signed to major record label EastWest Records on the back of "Come Alive" and in 1991 released Tambourine Fever, (Billy Brown co wrote another track and also played harmonica on two others, as well as providing backing vocals on some tracks too) an album of various melodic sounds and beats incorporating real INSTRUMENTS of guitar, piano, harmonica - which for Dance Music was quite unusual.

Lydia Steinman provided outstanding vocals on the album. Richard Scott's lead guitar and piano work enhanced several tracks on the album. Scott had already enjoyed much success with several bands in Leeds most notably IQ Clearance.
