Optionshouse

OptionsHouse is an online investing company with operations in Chicago, Illinois. Investors on OptionsHouse.com have access to the company's online brokerage, member FINRA and SIPC, where they can trade stocks, options, mutual funds and bonds.

OptionsHouse, L.L.C. is a subsidiary of proprietary options-trading firm PEAK6 Investments, L.P. also headquartered in Chicago, Illinois in the Chicago Board of Trade.

OptionsHouse is a registered broker-dealer, member FINRA. FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) is The Primary regulatory body of the securities industry.

History

  • 2005 OptionsHouse was founded by PEAK6 Chief Technology Officer, Danny Rosenthal; PEAK6 Systems Architect, David Budworth; and PEAK6 Co-Founders, Matt Hulsizer and Jenny Just.1
  • January 8, 2007 - OptionsHouse.com opened to the public, offering its trading platform and flat-rate commission fees to investors. 2
  • July 26, 2007 - OptionsHouse launched its virtual trading tool 3
  • September 24, 2008 - George Ruhana named new CEO, replacing former CEO, John Hass. 4
  • March 16, 2009 - Barron's rates OptionsHouse first in trade experience. 5

PEAK6 and OptionsHouse

The relationship between PEAK6 and OptionsHouse has been questioned by some investors because of PEAK6's function in the options industry as a market maker. A forum thread on The Options Insider elicited a response from OptionsHouse CEO, George Ruhana, where he answered questions posted in the thread by some of the firm's critics and explained how order flow is not influenced by the relationship between the two companies.6

Options News Network is affiliated with OptionsHouse through its shared parent company, PEAK6 Investments, L.P. The Options News Network features regular content contributed by OptionsHouse CEO, George Ruhana and OptionsHouse Chief Investment Strategist, Steve Claussen.
