Olasee Davis is a native Virgin Islander and environmental advocate who has dedicate his career to protecting the NATURAL and cultural resources of The U.S. Virgin Islands. He studies agriculture and ecology in a few different universities in the US before returning USVI to work as an environmental educator.

He later became a Professor and specialist in natural and cultural resources in the University of the Virgin Islands. There he develops programs the encourage environmental awareness and conversation.

Writing and education

Davis is a prolific writer who has published thousands of articles on topics such as Virgin Island history, agriculture, ecology, and culture heritage in local newspapers and magazines.

Beside writing, he also often leads hikes, education tours, and lectures to teach Visitors and residents about the natural and cultural history of the islands. His goal is for younger and older forks to explore every corner of USVI, learning and embracing their home.

His Activism

David has been an outspoken advocate for wildlife, protecting land and historical sites around the Virgin Islands. He has done this through newspapers, articles, public lectures, and testimonies in front of government agencies. He's worked to preserve important natural areas throughout the Caribbean.

His environmental advocacy includes efforts to protect areas like Great Pond ecosystems on St. Croix, where he worked with the community groups and government agencies to prevent environmental degrading and support restoration plans.

Recognition and rewards

Over this time period of his career, David has received over 300 honors for his work done in environmental conversation and education, including rewards

  • EPA Environmental Quality award
