OISE "company"
OISE; ac Oxford Intensive School of English is a language school, 1973 establishment in Oxford, England. Designed to allow and encourage students to learn English, French, German and Spanish in the countries where they are used. The founder Till Gins invents the concept of lesson formats, Tutorial™, Quatorial™ and Octorial™.
History
June 1973, Till Gins organiser of a three weeks course for the daughters of a French professor at Sorbonne University (Paris) and instigator of a teaching method inspired by Oxford University. OISE’s signed features are the logo drawn by Jane Kopyto (Till Gins’ sister), the text font (Goudy Old Style (10)) and a common interior design.
Product
OISE provides intensive language training courses. The teaching is based on acquiring the basics: grammar, vocabulary and expression in a genuine environment and an intensive use. In small working groups, the lesson lasts for 1 hour.
Tutorial™ lessons, lesson involving 1 student being taught by a teacher, the concept of the lesson is to stimulate personal thinking and research.
Quatorial™ lessons, lesson involving maximum 4 students being taught by a teacher, also based on the stimulation of personal thinking and research held in a more realistic environment for communication.
Octorial™ lessons, lesson involving maximum 8 students being taught by a teacher, also based on the stimulation of personal thinking and research held in a more realistic environment for communication.
Group Development
4 directions have been taken to develop:
1. the creation of schools for adults (professionals) and for higher education students.
2. the creation of a school and the renting of schools and colleges for younger students (primary and secondary school students)
3. the acquisition of competitors, all notorious players in the industry for their own educational approach (kept after the acquisition).
4. the promotion is handled by sales offices in Europe and worldwide sales agents.
Schools
The first school was set-up in 1975. OISE counts 10 permanent schools for adults and higher education students all located in university cities to maximize the recruitment of the teachers and 1 permanent school opened in Newbury set-up in 1994 for younger students. colleges and schools are rented during the school holidays. The schools are either residential where the students not only study, but also live during the course time, with their fellow students and possibly teachers and non-residential where the student lives with guest families. The schools are structured around a Principal (responsible for the school and the administration), a Director a Studies responsible for the teachers, the accommodation officer for both residential and non-residential schools and the teachers.
