Obelisk Support

Obelisk Legal Support Solutions Limited (Obelisk Support) is a legal service provider that uses a flexible outsourcing working model. Lawyers are placed with law firms on an interim basis to work as an extension within a business to fill short- to medium-term vacancies. Using qualified lawyers, Obelisk Support also provides legal document language translation services into 27 world languages.

Background

Obelisk Support was founded in 2010 by Dana Denis-Smith and Charlotte Devlin. It provides a flexible alternative to the traditional organisational structure of the United Kingdom legal sector. Obelisk connects ex-City solicitors with appropriate opportunities. The firm now has over 500 lawyers on its books. It recorded revenue growth of 400% between 2013/2014. The business has worked with clients such as Royal Bank of Scotland, Goldman Sachs, BT, Thomson Reuters and ING.

Awards

In 2014, Obelisk Support won the Best Strategic Leadership award at the MPF Awards 2014. It was a finalist for the second year in succession for Best Emerging Firm. In 2014, the firm was named runner up to Unilever for most Agile Organisation at the Opportunity Now Awards. For the second year running, Obelisk Support was one of three firms rated as Stand Out in the Legal Pioneers category at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards 2013. In 2012, Obelisk’s founder Dana Denis-Smith was a finalist Legal Innovator of the Year in the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards. She was named as one of UK Management Today’s 35 inspirational women in business under 35 in 2010.

First 100 Years project

The First 100 Years project was launched in 2014 by Obelisk Support in partnership with The Law Society and the Bar Council to capture and celebrate the journey of women in the legal profession over the past 100 years.
