Nutrino
Nutrino is a free food recommendation platform, developed by ComoComo Ltd. It is the first platform that uses the users' habits and preferences to provide a personalized meal plan in real-time. The company announced it will release the beta version of Nutrino for iOS in the United Kingdom during February 2013.
Overview
Nutrino was designed with the objective to allow individuals to enjoy a healthy lifestyle without having to regularly consult a nutritionist or a dietitian. The service actively recommends an optimal weekly menu tailored to the user’s goal, medical and personal profiles, eating habits and preferences. It learns the users' needs and wishes from their implicit and explicit feedback, and responds in real-time. At the heart of the product is an algorithm that matches each user with the optimal diet to achieve his personal goals.
The company mentions in its blog the excess of contradictory recommendations in nutrition and the confusion that it causes in the public. They set as one of their main goals to provide a reliable access to healthy food recommendations for individuals of all ages, both on the educational level and practically through Nutrino's on-the-go recommendations.
History
Nutrino was initially developed by Jonathan Lipnik and Yaron Hadad in 2009. They started the project while Jonathan was working on his MBA in IESE Business School and Yaron on his PhD in mathematics and physics at the University of Arizona. The vision leading Nutrino was to find a technological solution to address the growing nutrition-related health issues in the western world. Due to the scale of the project and the commitment to their studies, Jonathan involved three more of his friends in the project. Together they founded ComoComo Ltd in July 2011.
