Nu Phi Delta
Nu Phi Delta (ΝΦΔ), commonly nicknamed NPD, is a social fraternity established in 2008 at Hunter College, City University of New York (CUNY) located on Manhattan's Upper East Side. In its short time period it has become the largest all male fraternity on campus. Nu Phi Delta is open for membership in both its Fall and Spring semesters.
History
Founding
The Alpha chapter of Nu Phi Delta was founded by the founding fathers:
- Daniel "Rabbit" Guidos
- Stefan "Sly" Kazmi
- Jim "Forrest" Marren
Nu Phi Delta was founded at Hunter College on September 24, 2008. The idea was to create a brotherhood which led to assist its members through personal growth. The fraternity at Hunter College focuses on taking the strengths of its members and utilizing them to their maximum potential, as well as making their members reach their potential on a microcosmic and macro-cosmic level. The weaknesses of the members are paid close attention to and strengthened through the pledging process and membership.
Core Values
The fraternity was raised on its three pillars of Acceptance, Brotherhood, and Leadership.
- Acceptance- The Fraternity Nu Phi Delta is accepting to people of all races, religions, ethnicities, nationalities, and [...] preference. We do not discriminate under any circumstance.
- Brotherhood- Through time spent here members create strong friendships. A trusting bond between the brothers of Nu Phi Delta is created.
- Leadership- Through time spent within Nu Phi Delta our members experience leadership skills and personal growth. Taking part in committees and helping in organizing social, fundraising and charity events helps assist the foundation for innovative leaders, something that is a necessity in today’s society.
Mission Statement
Believing that all men are social creatures and that the friendships of college men are lasting ones, we the men of Nu Phi Delta Multicultural Fraternity, do hereby seek to promote these associations through a social fraternity which will uphold the true standards of brotherhood.
Nu Phi Delta is to consider for membership those who are diverse, intelligent, well-rounded, and talented individuals attending the said University, whose personality, social, and academic qualifications are acceptable to the respective organization. Nu Phi Delta is interested in more than just the accumulation of members, and emphasizes the quality, dedication, and integrity of individuals over the quantity of those prospective members. Nu Phi Delta will seek individuals who will respect and educate themselves on Greek life. In return, Nu Phi Delta will serve as a conduit through which individuals may develop a better personal and professional experience, while providing a service to the community at the said University.
Purpose
Nu Phi Delta's mission is outlined by these Six points:
- To promote the highest ideals of acceptance, brotherhood, and leadership according to the Principles of the Fraternity.
- To create harmony between all nationalities. As a multicultural fraternity we are open and accepting of all races, genders, [...] orientations, etc.
- To provide an atmosphere that will permit members to grow in academic strength and community involvement, while recognizing the individuality of each.
- To promote true brotherhood and a better social life among all with who the members may be associated, both within and without the Fraternity.
- To uphold the traditions and ideals of Nu Phi Delta and Hunter College.
- To take an active and positive role in the university community.
