NSK Inc

NSK Inc. is an information technology consulting firm headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. The company was founded in 1996 and has a sister office in Palo Alto, California.

The company serves small to medium-sized businesses, and groups within large organizations, providing technology solutions with a focus on business-driven information challenges. They also provide custom software products for investment banks, equity management organizations, and other specialized industry areas.

History

Nancy Swan Keddy started NSK Inc. out of her home in November 1995. The company was incorporated in April 1996. Nancy states that she “didn’t want to assist just one but multiple organizations in growing and/or increasing their knowledge in both Information Technology (IT) and Development.

The company supported cross platform technologies with Windows 3 (PC) and System 7 (Apple® Computers). NSK Inc. also specialized in routers, hubs, complex networks, and interactivity between PC and Mac environments.

In August 1997, NSK Inc. began hiring and four employees joined the team. After 18-months in business, the company moved to an office on Milk Street in Boston in 1998.

By 1998, NSK Inc. had established relationships with four major venture capital/private equity firms including TA Associates and Spectrum Equity.

In January 2001, NSK Inc. began expanding and moved to an office space at 100 Boylston Street in the historic Colonial Theatre building. Soon the company began to expand their service offerings and hired additional employees to provide graphic design, database development, and IT services including web hosting and data back-up solutions.

In 2003, NSK Inc. opened and incorporated a sister office in Palo Alto, California.

Nancy brought Tim Lasonde in as a partner of the company in 2006 and in 2008, NSK Inc. established a Sales and Marketing team to grow the company.

Nancy has since helped to start up two additional companies: Everon Virtual IT, where she is a board member; and Touch Ahead Software, where she serves as a senior partner.

Services

Instead of having an in-house Information Technology department, clients are able to utilize NSK Inc for technical support services. The company is equipped to handle anything from relocating computers over a weekend to deploying a new software system. All clients receive three levels of IT support.

Level One – The IT Services Manager

The IT Services Manager acts as an in-house Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for each customer. This person works directly with a client’s upper management to assist in proposing solutions. The manager oversees projects such as relocations, desktop rollouts, and server upgrades and implementations. The manager also provides an annual Technology Audit included as part of their service.

Level Two – Client Associate

Every client is also assigned a dedicated IT associate responsible for performing week to week tasks normally performed by an in house technical staff. The associate becomes a member of the client’s team and assists in helping to utilize technology effectively and efficiently. NSK’s clients are provided with the associates contact information including cell phone and email and are on call as if they were an in-house member of staff.

Level Three – The IT Help Desk

NSK Inc offers each client a Help Desk with tech support for extended service. Help Desk technicians are available from 8:30am EST to 8:30pm EST, to provide support for users across the United States and Internationally. Issues that arise outside of scheduled appointments that require immediate attention can be remotely taken care of by the Help Desk.

Hosting Services

NSK Inc also offers their clients an array of hosting services including web hosting, DNS, spam filtering, and mobile email support. They also offer data backup and server solutions that allow clients to access their data from all over the world through either a VPN or OWA.

Branding

NSK Inc also offers branding services such as logo creation, web design, business cards, and company stationary.

Product Offerings

Pavis™

Pavis™ is an advanced Backup Disaster Recovery (BDR) system that takes continuous snapshots of data in timed intervals so the data is backed up as it is changed, 24 hours a day. Pavis™ is monitored and maintained by NSK Inc without the need for tapes or in-house administration.

MPICA

Due to recent changes in Massachusetts General Law , specifically 201 cmr, NSK Inc offers a Massachusetts Personal Information Compliance Assessment (MPICA). The assessment allows NSK to make sure their clients are in compliance with the new legislation.

Custom Application Development

NSK Inc provides mission-critical application development for businesses needing to accelerate profitable practices, create value in emerging markets or reduce the cost or risk of an existing practice. NSK Inc development includes Technologies (Visual Studio, Apache), Languages (C#, JavaScript, and Perl), Web (AJAX, CSS, HTML), and Databases (SQL Server, MySQL).
