Novellino Wines

Novellino Wines is a Filipino wine brand manufactured in Calamba, Laguna. It was founded in 1999 by Vicente Quimbo, and became the number 1 best selling wine in the Philippines.

History

Novellino began when its founder, Vicente "Nonoy" Quimbo, noticed a discrepancy between the high aspiration of wine and its low consumption in the Philippines. He attributed the lack of consumption of wine in the Philippines to taste, price, and familiarity. In 1999, Mr. Quimbo set out to create a product that would not only appeal to the Filipino palate but also be affordable and recognizable. He collaborated with renowned Italian winemaker Franco Nosenzo to develop Novellino wines. Through a complex manufacturing process using imported European machinery, Novellino arrests the process of fermentation and only partially ferments the wine, preventing the yeast from eating all the sugar. This method results in a sweeter wine with lower alcohol content. In 2013, Novellino invested in a new wine-making facility at Camelray Industrial Park, Laguna, capable of producing between 6 and 7 million bottles per year. The company has continued to grow, and has become the number 1 best selling wine in the Philippines.
