Nous (company)
Nous is a British financial technology company founded in 2021 and based in London. The company provides services intended to help UK households manage recurring household bills and identify potential cost savings. Its product offering has been noted for incorporating automated and agent-based artificial intelligence techniques within the fintech sector.
History
Nous was founded by Greg Marsh, previously a co-founder of onefinestay, alongside Jon Rudoe and Glen Walker. The idea for the company emerged in 2020 following Marsh’s experience managing household energy accounts with British Gas, which highlighted the complexity consumers face when attempting to compare providers and reduce costs.
In February 2022, Nous raised US$9 million in seed funding led by Mosaic Ventures, with participation from angel investors including Tom Blomfield, Marc Warner, Dan Hegarty, Eamon Jubbawy, Brent Hoberman, and Andy Phillipps. Later that year, the company collaborated with The Sun on a campaign to raise awareness of broadband social tariffs available to low-income households.
In 2023, Nous launched an automated agent feature that applies artificial intelligence to analyse users’ household bills and surface potential savings opportunities.
Media coverage
Nous and its founders have been referenced by UK media outlets including The Times, The Guardian, Sky News, ITV News, The Sun, and The Mirror, primarily in the context of analysis and commentary on household finances, consumer bills, and the cost-of-living crisis.
