Not Good Enough for the Truth in Cliché
Not Good Enough for Truth in Cliché is a song by American rock band Escape the Fate, the song was released as the second single from their debut album Dying Is Your Latest Fashion. The song is usually interpreted to be about murdering a lover. A demo version and music video were also recorded previous to their album release.
Music video
The video for the song begins in a setting called the Capulet Cafe, the first of many references to Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. The camera then pans to a girl, presumably the Juliet the song speaks of, drinking from a small vial, as the band begins to play in an abandoned room, which we soon learn, via a flashback, is the now empty Capulet Cafe, which the band previously played at, on Juliet's birthday. Juliet appears to be a waitress at the cafe. Throughout the video, Ronnie and Juliet share glances, and even begin to kiss, during the second chorus, before Juliet's birthday cake is delivered. During the breakdown of the song, Ronnie is sitting in the closed Capulet Cafe, before it has been abandoned, and Juliet appears, and subsequently begins to throw things, flip tables, and cause damage to the cafe, while arguing with Ronnie. As the breakdown ends, one of them drops what appears to be an airline ticket, and Juliet (Mandy Murders) produces a vial of red liquid. We then understand that it's a vial of poison, a relation to the poison in Romeo and Juliet. Ronnie drinks the poison, kisses Juliet, and they walk off hand in hand. The next scene, we see Ronnie and Juliet lying on the floor, which we assume as them being dead.
Mandy Murders also appears on the album cover.
