North Cyprus Airlines

North Cyprus Airlines () was founded by the Turkish Cypriot government of the de facto Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) shortly after the bankruptcy of Cyprus Turkish Airlines in June 2010.

According to Turkish Cypriot authorities, 60% of all shares will belong to the private sector and 30% will be owned publicly. In accordance with an agreement with the national flag carrier airline of Turkey, Turkish Airlines will own the remaining 10% of shares in the newly established North Cyprus Airlines and will be responsible for supplying new fleet to the airliner. KKHY will start operations with an initial $15,000,000 budget and as an affilate member of the Star Alliance group.

Scheduled flights will be operated from Ercan International Airport, Northern Cyprus and will fly to an apparent 11 destinations globally, including Turkey and the United Kingdom as well as several other destinations in Western and Northern Europe. Orhan Sivrikaya became the first CEO of North Cyprus Airlines.

KKHY will lease 3 aircraft for 2011 and one more is expected to join its fleet the next year (possibly a Boeing 737 series).

At this stage very little else is known AbOUT the airline carrier since it is still in its structuring stage by the Turkish Cypriot authorities. It is hoped that the NCA will start flights by the end of March although this remains an unrealistic prospect.
