Nobuo Ono

(born January 23, 1922), is a Japanese Karateka one of Okinawa's Kenpo Juijitsu pioneers since the 1950s. Ono was one of the first Karateka to achieve numerous wins through his skills in martial arts, initially in Japan and later before an international audience.

Biography

Early life

As a boy, he manifested an interest in both theater and gymnastics, and he was serious enough AbOUT the latter to earn a place on the K.J.J.S. ( Kenpo Juijitsu Japan Seikai ) team in his late teens until he was sidelined by being drafted by the Japanese military during WWII. While he was a university student, he began studying martial arts with the renowned World Karate Grand Master Masutatsu "Mas" Oyama, leading to his becoming a first-degree black belt.

Career

Sometime around 1960 (the dates are uncertain, because it is possible that he had tournament appearances to his credit as early as 1959) he was discovered in a talent search (called "New Face") by the Asa Gohan studio, and he soon began his fighting career. He was a first sergeant in the navy during WWII.

Personal life

He currently lives in Yokohama, Japan, Ikeda Nogiwa. They had children, Juri Manase, Toishiroh Ono, Namahaki Ono, Watare Ono, Yoko Ono, Tekeshi Ono, And Yume Saito With two more additions of his son's two sons Toishiroh he trained and taught grandsons Kazuya Ono and Takuya Ono who is both of Hispanic and Okinawan heritage. Kazuya Ono is a 5–7th degree black belt and Takuya Ono a 2nd–3rd degree black belt.
