Nita Mistry (actress)
Nita Mistry (born 19 June) is an English actress best known for What A Girl Wants, Romeo Vs Juliet, Crossing Over, and One Crazy Thing.
Early life
Mistry was born and raised in Leicester, England, where she studied GCSE Drama at Crown Hills Community College. In 2008, she trained professionally at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London.
Career
In 2004, Mistry made her film debut in the first series of BBC One's New Tricks opposite Amanda Redman and James Bolam. Shortly afterwards, she made a guest appearance On the Television series Casualty. She has also appeared in the popular television series The Bill, the feature film What A Girl Wants featuring Amanda Bynes and Colin Firth, and the 2004 film The King of Bollywood featuring Sophie Dahl.
In 2014, she appeared in a campaign against domestic and [...] violence called How Many Times for International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
In 2015, Mistry was cast in the supporting role of Anu in the film Romeo Vs Juliet, directed by Ashok Pati, which was subsequently ranked in the top three highest-grossing films in the box office of that year. It was filmed in London and Bangladesh. Following the success of Romeo Vs Juliet, Mistry appeared in the 2016 film One Crazy Thing. She will appear in the upcoming film Genesis, and will be relocating to Los Angeles in January 2017.
Prior to this, Mistry has also VOICED the character of a young teenager in multiple radio plays for the popular British radio station BBC Radio 4, including Small Island and The Girl Who Touched the Stars. In addition, she has appeared on stage at Hampstead Theatre, Soho Theatre, Theatre Royal Windsor, Finborough Theatre, and Theatre 503 in London.
Mistry has served on the judge's panel for the well-known Monologue Slam event, run by TriForce Creative Network, in both London and Leicester. She has also been interviewed by Deadline Hollywood, Flickering Myth, and the industry's famous Stage newspaper in London, and has run workshops for up and coming actors via Equity the union.
She is represented by Bohemia Group in the US. She is a member of Equity UK.
