Nick Hutson

Nick Hutson (born 24 July 1984, London, England) is a British pianist and composer. He created MusicalTalk with his friend and co-presenter Andy Edwards in September 2006.

Education

Nick attended both Chiswick and Bedford Park Prep and Ravenscourt Park Prep school - before heading off to St Benedict's School where he met future collaborator Dominic Lindesay-Bethune. Together, they devised and performed in many school productions. Nick took piano classes which led to an interest in music composition. He then went on to the University of Hertfordshire where he studied, under Dr Timothy Blinko, various aspects of composing for media, film and other commercial aspects. Whilst at UH, he was the Big Band's pianist, and would Nick then embarked upon the Masters program for writing for musical theatre at Goldsmiths College. This program resulted in the staging of his musical adaptation of Just William - for which he wrote the book, music and lyrics.

Musical Projects

Working projects include The House on Penbrook Way, Far Away Academy, Five Children and It. His parody lyrics to "What is This Feeling?" from Wicked - commenting on the fangirl craze of the musical is a hit on YouTube. For the CoasterRadio.com podcast, he wrote the book, music and lyrics to the 20 minute CoasterBoy Musical.

In the summer or 2009, with Dominic Lindesay-Bethune, he provided music and additional lyrics to "Thinking of Home", from the play "Pearls of the East". The song was sung, in the production, by Filipino musical theatre star Ima Castro.

Also with Dominic Lindesay-Bethune, Nick scored the main theme to Equinox Drama's film "The Helpless Survivor".

He also orchestrated some of the songs for the British musical comedy "Rubbish: The Musical". He has also adapted the 15th Century "Agincourt Hymn" for a January 2010 production of Hal V - directed by Eleanor Conlon for the Goldsmiths Shakespeare Society.

Podcasting

Having always had a passion in radio and sound production, Nick, with original co-presenter Andrew Edwards, created the MusicalTalk Podcast in September 2006. What started out as a two-man show, MusicalTalk now has multiple presenters from both the US, and the UK; 2 production houses as well as two episodes presented in front of live studio audiences.

In 2007, Nick joined the theme park podcast: The Season Pass.
