Next Caller (company)
Next Caller is a telecommunications technology firm in New York City, New York. Next Caller provides threat-level analyses of phone calls to verify callers in real-time and improve customer experience. By detecting if a call is spoofed or not, Next Caller allows financial institutions, insurance companies, healthcare providers, and retailers to stop phone fraud before it starts.
History
Next Caller was co-founded in 2012 by Ian Roncoroni. Roncoroni proposed the idea for an alternative to traditional caller ID after losing a rental car reservation when the company believed his name was Ron Coroni instead of Ian Roncoroni.
Next Caller’s technology officially launched on stage at TechCrunch Disrupt 2013, and was accepted into Y Combinator's Winter 2014 Batch. On August 28, 2017 Next Caller raised a $5 million Series A funding round.
Next Caller’s API began as a way to reduce customer service hold times and friction at the beginning of a call with its patented call routing technology. Next Caller still serves businesses by improving customer experience and lessening average handle time. However, instead of identifying unknown inbound callers, Next Caller now uses its VeriCall™ technology to detect ANI spoofing and verify clients' real customers.
Technology
Next Caller continues to utilize a REST API and authenticates through 0Auth 1.0a. Next Caller uses a proprietary algorithm named VeriCall™ to analyze carrier-level metadata. The algorithm detects caller ID spoofing and verifies real calls at rates between 75-80% depending on the call subset.
Research
Next Caller explores industry trends and publishes articles and reports in the realms of authentication, fraud, and machine learning.
