New Swinton Stadium

The New Swinton Stadium is a proposed rugby league stadium in the Agecroft area of Pendlebury in the borough of Swinton and Pendlebury, near Manchester. It is to be the home of Swinton Lions. Upon completion, Swinton will return to the borough after selling off Station Road in 1992.

Since 2006 A Plan had been put in place to bring the Lions home and, to that end, the team have been training on the site. Work has yet to be commenced, however, as the Lions lacked a financial backer and were operating at semi-pro level. However, money has been raised and work is scheduled to commence hopefully in the not too distant future. A meeting is to be called in early September 2012 to confirm planning permission has been accepted.

The club have been playing at numerous venues since leaving Swinton and are currently playing their home fixtures at Leigh Sports Village.
