New Republican is an American political blog, publishing news and opinion from a Conservatism point of view. The forum mainly targets youth. It acts as an open discussion forum and group blog for a variety of netroots activists, whose efforts are primarily directed toward influencing and strengthening the Republican Party.

History

The New Republican was founded as an open-minded forum and networking site, inviting students, on how the Republican party should adapt to modern-day challenges while staying true to its core values. The forum seeks to engage students in an open-minded discussion of politics and policies, and in turn, inspire young Americans to think of ways to positively change the world, beginning with their own communities.

Students from the University of Georgia, George Mason, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Purdue, Indiana, Duke, Mercer, Washington & Lee, Maryland, Whittier, NYU and GCSU have joined in this collaboration. The blog seeks to engage the youth in a positive and constructive dialogue on politics and policies in the aftermath of the 2008 Presidential Election.

On November 19, 2008, Politico.com recognized this forum in Ben Smith’s column under the headline “A student at the University of Georgia tries to reinvent the GOP.” In addition, local newspapers have published commentaries with respect to the importance of this open forum, since it specifically addresses the challenges facing Americans today.

The website runs on Word Press.
