New Look (music duo)
New Look is a Canadian future-pop duo based in Brooklyn, New York.
History
Originally formed in Toronto, Canada as the duo "Jungletalk" in November 2005, the duo is formed by Sarah Ruba and Adam Pavao. Both had previously been involved in other MusicAL projects, including attendence at the Red Bull Music Academy in Seattle and an appearance at the Sónar music festival, in Barcelona, Spain in 2005.
Shortly after recording their first song, Sarah and Adam moved to Brooklyn in the summer of 2006 and began recording in their own studio. Over a two year period, they produced an EP entitled "How's My Hair". New Look entered into a contract with an independent record label that had agreed to release the EP, but the relationship ultimately failed. New Look subsequently released their EP independently online via free download.
In collaboration with Detroit musician Jimmy Edgar, New Look released a remix version of "Function of your Love (Orig. Jimmy Edgar)" in 2008.
Beginning in 2009, New Look has entered into a management contract with Ian Montone of Monotone Inc., who also manages The White Stripes and M.I.A.
