New Hampshire Music Festival

The New Hampshire Music Festival began as a small chamber orchestra on an island in Lake Winnipesaukee in 1952.

The Festival makes its home at the Silver Center at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire. Top musicians from all over the United States come to New Hampshire, attracted by the recreational opportunities of the Lakes Region and the White Mountains as well as the chance to play with a group of colleagues they have come to know and love over many years. Several musicians have been a part of the Festival for over 40 years.

The Festival has selected Donato Cabrera as its new music director. Mr. Cabrera is the Resident Conductor of the San Francisco Symphony and the Music Director of the Green Bay Symphony.

Full orchestral classical music concerts are held on Thursdays and Fridays in the Hanaway Theater at the Silver Center. POPS concerts are held on alternate Saturdays, also in the Hanaway Theater. Chamber music concerts with members of the Festival orchestra are held in the intimate Smith Recital Hall on Tuesdays.

The 2012 season began with a chamber music concert on July 10, and ended with a classical concert on August 17. Paul Polivnik was named Conductor Laureate and conducted the first three weeks of the season. Candidates for permanent music director of the Festival conducted the final three weeks. Matt Catingub conducted the pops concerts.
