Network of Change
Network of Change is an American charity based in Meeker, Colorado.
Enter stage left; sustainability. Of course a lot has been written on the subject of sustainable work and the benefits of focusing on projects which revolve around sustainability standards and education are now being seen all over the world.
The philosophy applied by the "Network of Change Organization" is perhaps one of the most interesting examples of an organization moving forward with sustainable work. The ideal behind the organization's work does not encompass only a single NGO, although remarkably, the efforts of an array of groups are represented by a single group which is based in the United States. The most distinctive thing you may notice AbOUT the method in which this organization presents it's logistical approach is that it represents the collaborative efforts of many into well-planned actions for the benefit of everyone withouth showing prejiduce toward race, culture, or religion. It is true in fact that the organization is comprised of individuals representing nearly every religion.
All projects proposed by the group have not only have to conform to standards for sustainable work, but also must be designed to preserve cultural stability.
The Network of Change is an ideaology which utilizes the principal of "setting a conscious example" for others and also to reach into the general populous of the western world....to draw attention and the minds of westerners to the dire straits of impoverished people. Information is funneled from slums and drought-ridden areas directly to interested parties and by working through this organization, a personal connection is developed. Through action, people learn that they do have the ability to fix these problems....solutions do exist, and there is hope.
The seeds for what has been cultivated into the Network of Change were first planted when an American Forest Ranger named Kasey Cox embarked upon a volunteer trip to impoverished regions of southern Kenya. After the experience, he knew that he could not continue his life without getting more deeply involved. He resigned from his career, sold his possessions, and made a permanent move to Kenya. He was quoted as saying, "I don't have all the answers for why I am doing this. All I know is that these people have a lot to teach us about being human".
Opportunities to volunteer with the Network of Change are available. The chance of working with Cox exists for anyone willing to take the first step.
