NetClarity NACwalls

A NetClarity NACwall is a Network Access Control (NAC) device or dedicated appliance which inspects network assets which come and go on and off the network and denies or permits limited or full access to the network based on a set of rules or policies.

Unlike NAC infrastructure solutions, a NACwall operates similarly to a network firewall in that you plug it in on your network without replacing any existing equipment such as switches and hubs. In addition, a NACwall, like a network firewall does not need to install or manage agents or client-based software to operate. Also, NACwalls, unlike firewalls, do not have to operate in-line, so if a NACwall device goes offline, there is no risk of network downtime due to the device malfunctioning.

A NACwall is a network security appliance created by NetClarity, Inc., an information security appliance manufacturer who holds one or more patents on NACwall technology including USPTO Patent #7,346,922 and these pending applications, 20090199298 ENTERPRISE SECURITY MANAGEMENT FOR NETWORK EQUIPMENT, 20080005784 PROACTIVE NETWORK SECURITY SYSTEMS TO PROTECT AGAINST HACKERS, 20070192867 Security appliances, 20070177615 VOIP SECURITY, 20050044418 Proactive network security system to protect against hackers, etc.

So NACwalls appear to be designed as security appliances that protect networks from the inside out, behind firewalls as non-inline devices or 'out of band' NAC appliances. It seems they also uniquely provide security to protect VoIP networks as well.
