Nerds (film)
Nerds (2007) is a documentary movie developed by Khalan North Films. It was released May 25 2007.
Plot
Nerds explores various stereotypes attached to people who are GeneRally labeled “Nerds”. The film takes place at two conventions that deal with science fiction, comic books, and anime. People are asked about their views and ideas on the subject of Nerds. The crew visits the Anime North Convention and the Fan Expo (both in Toronto) and interviews patrons and guest stars about the subject matter. Topics explored throughout the film include: the term Nerd in comparison to the term Geek, cos-playing, guest stars, fan films, economics of the nerd industry, and what makes a person a nerd.
The central thesis revolving around the film is that the term "nerd" is rapidly changing and very different than times past, in the sense that being a nerd or geek is becoming more socially acceptable as it is becoming a more and more common occurrence. The two terms are vague, and that humans are much more complex than to be so simply categorized.
Guest Stars
A number of anime voice actors are included in the film including: Colleen Clinkenbeard, Quinton Flynn, Jeff Nimoy, Sonny Strait, Cynthia Martinez, among others.
