Nek Vardikos
Nek Vardikos (Greek: Νεκτάριος Βαρδίκος) is a photographer and photojournalist. Born in Thessaloniki in 1976, his work is well known in Greece. In 2012 he moved permanently to London, continued his career by photograph various subjects.
Career
In 1995 he studied applied photography at the "European School of Photography" and in Photographic Atelier of Stavroupolis. Since 1996 and for the following 12 years he worked in the area of photojournalism, by the daily Greek newspaper "Agelioforos". In 2002 became a permanent partner of Photo news agency "Mega Press". He has published thousands of images in the Greek press and various magazines including portraits of famous Greek actors, singers, politicians and athletes. Since 2001 he is a member of the Official Union of Photojournalists in Greece and has been accredited by the Ministry of Press and Media.
He was the founder of the photography company Applepie in 2003 and then of the Yellow Room studio in 2006, specializing in Portrait and Wedding photography. In the same year he has awarded the 1st prize for the wedding album of the year, by the union of Photographers in North Greece. He has participated in many group exhibitions.
Vardikos has also photograph commercial photography. One of his clients for many years is Lidl. He is the creator of a well known image series in the storefront of every Lidl store in Greece.
Book publications
In the year 2010 he collaborated with the publishing company Malliaris Pedia, by photographing 50 cook books. Most of them regarding to Mediterranean cuisine.
