Neighbourhood Watch messaging system
A Neighbourhood Watch messaging system is a tool to allow messages to be distributed to members of Neighbourhood Watch schemes. The content of messages could include warnings AbOUT distraction burglaries, car theft, or appeals for missing or wanted people.
The messaging system is typically purchased and operated by the police, the council, or an association. It can also be utilised for serving other watch schemes such as School Watch or Farm Watch.
Several commercial messaging systems are available providing a range of capabilities. Some systems are Internet based and allow watch members to maintain their own contact details rather than relying wholly on a central administrator to keep the contact database up to date.
Messages can be sent out in various formats depending on the system used. Possible formats includes email, telephone, fax, pager, SMS, MMS, and print.
