National Institute of Teaching and Education

The National Institute of Teaching and Education (NITE) is a teacher training and educational development institute that forms part of Coventry University Group. Established in 2019 as the National School of Education and Teaching (NSET), the institute adopted its current name in 2022 after receiving institute status from the UK government. NITE specialises in initial teacher training (ITT), postgraduate education programmes, educational leadership, and professional development for teachers and school leaders in the United Kingdom and internationally.

NITE operates primarily through flexible online and school-based learning models, enabling trainee teachers to study while working in schools. The organisation is headquartered in Milton Keynes, England.

History

The organisation was founded in 2019 under the name National School of Education and Teaching (NSET) as part of Coventry University Group’s expansion into teacher education and professional training. In late 2021, the institution was awarded “Institute” status and subsequently relaunched as the National Institute of Teaching and Education (NITE) in January 2022.

In 2022, NITE achieved re-accreditation from the UK Department for Education to continue delivering Initial Teacher Training programmes following national reforms to teacher training accreditation.
