An overview

National Academy for Learning is an international school in Bangalore that was founded by Dr K. P. Gopalkrishna. The main campus is located in the third block of Basaveshwaranagar. Though part of the National Public Schools, Bangalore it also offers both the Central Board of Secondary Education and International General Certificate of Secondary Education curricula to students. It also offers the sixth form CBSE program for Grades 11 and 12, but only in the science stream. Beware that there is no prescribed syllabus that the school follows until Grade 9.

Similar to its twin-school, The International School Bangalore, the NAFL employs faculty from various parts of India. Its organizational culture emphasizes advisory rather than disciplinary approaches to child development; consequently, little time is spent developing morality. Instead, the NAFL choses to place the student's moral development in the hands of his/or her parents, mentors, and peers.

Activities

Students are admitted to one of three competitive houses: Kamal (Yellow), Nihal (Green) or Vishal (Red). During the 2007-2008 academic year, the Vishal House won the "House Championship," one of the competitions between the houses. Other activities include an annual concert in which every student participates, Sports Day, and the Literary Fest. Cross-cultural holidays, such as Kannada Diwas, Bastille Day, and Liberation Day are also celebrated throughout the year.

Facilities

The NAFL contains a library, science and computer labs, and facilities for soccer, basketall, throwball, and cricket. The school encourages students to take part in scholastic events such as the BCCQ and the Scholastic National Art and Writing Awards.
