NanoFX GE

NanoFX GE is a game engine, currently being developed by Nanobyte. It is being designed as a space simulation video game engine. The engine when finished will support all genres of scifi, ranging from Star Trek to Babylon 5. It is currently in development, and updates are continuous on the site.

As of October 25th, 2007 the current status is that Nanobyte has added shadows to the game engine and is currently working on finalizing the bug cleaning prior to a public release of the updated core. Another programmer on the project, called lost_jedi is working on other aspects of the engine such as the physics system that will be used for all things ranging from the ships movement, to how ships interact when hit by debris from neighboring ships.

As for the graphics Department Of the engine, the main developer responsible is Mr Sean Kennedy who worked with Nanobyte on the mod project for Bridge Commander, called NanoFX. He will be working on all things graphics for The New NanoFX Game Engine.

Contrary to popular belief, NanoFX GE is not designed to be a replacement engine for the game Bridge Commander, but rather as an engine to use for a possible Bridge Commander successor, should a game developer choose to create such a game. Although the site indicates a distinct attraction towards Star Trek, the engine is not going to be limited to said genre, but rather to all genres of scifi and multiple gaming styles.
