Nam Nguyễn Thành
Nam Nguyễn Thành (born 17 July 1995) is a Vietnamese footballer who plays as a striker for V-League club Becamex Bình Dương and the Vietnam national football team.
Early life
Thanh was born in Thủ Dầu Một and learnt his trade on the mean streets of the town and surrounding area. Playing bare foot for most of his childhood, Thanh developed keen dribbling skills and an eye for goal. His idols growing up were Dean Saunders and Calum Davenport. Thanh is a fan of Bury F.C. in England and dreams of one day playing on the hallowed turf of Gigg Lane.
Playing career
2013 was a breakthrough year for Thanh as he pulled on the hallowed colours of Becamex Bình Dương, he scored his first goal for the club on his debut against Hải Phòng on 25 August 2013. Thanh completed a fine team move with a deft back-heel in the 22nd minute, earning him plaudits from such footballing luminaries as Barry Hayles and Scott Minto, the former of which said "That was class, I'd be happy with that at Truro. He's got a foot like a Honda Accord".
Following a dispute with the management and a growing sense of disillusionment with the club, Nam reluctantly put in a transfer request. Several hours later and following fierce contractual negotiations, Nam signed with V-League rivals Đồng Nai F.C.. He will wear the illustrious number 27 shirt for the 2014/2015 season.
