    • Afternoon session - starts from 10:40 am to 1:20 pm and ends between 1:50 pm and 4:30 pm

However, timings vary with the respective classes. For example, The Primary school gives over at around a quarter to five, but classes end in the high school only at a half past five.

School Emblem, Motto, Song and Prayer

The school motto is Education for all, as illustrated in the school's emblem. The emblem itself is that of a Paloma, symbolising the holy spirit. This is printed on all school shirts, sweaters, blazers, laboratory coats, Physical Education and athletic uniforms as well as school satchels, note book covers and other articles.

School events

  • School magazine:

The school magazine, "Ascent" is published annually by the South Point Education Society. Poems, articles and paintings of students of all classes are published in it.

  • Newsletter:

The Newsletter of the school is called the "Pointer", which contains news of developments, picnics, and records of alumni.

  • Biennial Art and Craft Exhibition:

Its a three day arts fair that is held every year in mid December. All students are encouraged to take part and contribute their works for public display. It is not only limited to arts, but also houses various projects by the students on different topics of all subjects, including the sciences.

  • Annual prize distribution:

The Annual Prize Distribution takes place every year at the Science City Auditorium on the 4th of July.

  • Sports, exhibitions and excursions:

The school organizes trips and sports events. An athletic meet is held every two years in winter. The athletic meet and art exhibition occur alternately.

  • Special celebrations:

Independence day is celebrated every year on the 15th of August in the school premises and so is the school's foundation day on 1 April. Christmas, Teacher's Day, Children's Day and Saraswati Puja are also celebrated.

School calendar

Summer and Durga Puja vacations are AbOUT a month each and are in May–June and September–October, respectively. Winter recess is in the last week of December, just after the three day annual arts and crafts exhibition in mid December.

Uniform

There is an assortment of school uniforms, for different classes. students in Nursery classes are allowed to come to school in colored dresses, and the uniforms are very similar from Classes I to VIII, barring a few subtle modifications. The uniforms, however, are drastically different in for the Secondary and Higher Secondary sections, each of which has its own uniform.

White shirts with blue stripes and the school emblem on the pocket, navy blue pants and a black school shoe. An navy blue tie with the school emblem and sweater or blazer is additional for winter.
