Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force

Errázuriz served as Commander-in-Chief of the Chilean Air Force between 1964 and 1969. His administration oversaw the acquisition of the institution's first four-engined Douglas DC-6B transport aircraft and the procurement of Hawker Hunter fighter-bombers from the United Kingdom. The latter aircraft were introduced into Aviation Group No. 7 as part of the modernisation of the Air Force's combat capabilities.

The Air Force also acquired additional light transport, liaison and aerial photogrammetry aircraft during his command. These acquisitions expanded the institution's operational capabilities beyond its combat aviation units.

Errázuriz promoted improvements to the Air Force's medical services, including the provision of new equipment and facilities for its hospital and medical centres. His administration also supported the development of the Air Nursing Corps through professional training courses and improvements to its services.

Other initiatives included improvements to personnel welfare programmes and infrastructure at several air bases. The facilities of Aviation Group No. 10 at Los Cerrillos Air Base were modernised during his tenure. He also supported the activities of Chilean flying clubs and the development of commercial aviation.

Errázuriz left command in 1969 and was succeeded by General Carlos Guerraty.
