Mundus OS
Mundus OS is an unofficial derivative of Ubuntu which can install some Windows programs, mount some Apple DMG image files, play a variety of the audio and video codecs, and install LSB, Red Hat, Stampede, Slackware Packages—all "out of the box".
System requirements
The system requirements of Mundus OS are similar to the Ubuntu specifications:
- 1.27 GB ISO image
- Minimum processor: 300 MHz (x86)
- Minimum hard drive: Capacity 4 GB - 5 GB
- Minimum Memory: 256 MB
- Minimum video card: VGA @ 640x480
Mundus OS and Wine
Mundus OS can install and run some Windows programs via Wine.
Mundus OS and DMG Automounter
The ability to mount Macintosh DMG files on Mundus OS is due to the incorporation of Nayebi's own nautilus script, DMG Automounter for Linux.
Unfortunately, Linux is currently unable to install a DMG file, and thus can only mount it. However, the ability to mount a DMG image can be especially helpful for users migrating from Macintosh to Linux who have their files contained in a DMG image. There are several limitations to DMG Automounter. For example, the script can only mount z-lib compressed DMG images.
Furthermore, the script cannot mount AES-encrypted DMG images. On the other hand, Mundus OS comes with the loop-aes-utils package which may aid in mounting an AES-encrypted DMG.
Mundus OS and Non-Debian Packages
Mundus OS can install LSB, Red Hat, Stampede, and Slackware packages with the program Alien. In order to convert between packages, one must use the command-line:
